Jaksta crashes on start up

I am running Mac OSX 10.9.5 with Jaksta Media Recorder 1.4.6. When I install Jaksta, it works for a little while (a day or so). After that, it locks up when I launch the application forcing me to reinstall it. I have also noticed that after using Jaksta a few times, it starts to cause issues with videos playing in Safari. I have to shut down Jaksta, start the video playing on a resolution I don't want to capture, open Jaksta, then choose the resolution I want to capture so that Jaksta recognizes the video.

Hi Andrea,

Please try our latest beta, which will hopefully have a fix for this issue.

You can get the installer here - https://cdn.shedworx.com/jaksta/beta/2.2.5_269/JakstaMediaRecorder.pkg

Hello Liam,
you can find attached a crash log. Jacksta freezes on startup.
txt

Hi Herbert,

If they are crashing on startup, then when you reopen them it should come up with a dialogue box informing you of the crash and also giving you the option to Reopen, Report or Ignore. If you click on Report then you should be taken to another screen with the option to get a crash log.

If you can get that far and can get the crash log, send that through to us and hopefully it will tell us what is going wrong.

Also, the log file that you sent through before was a bit messy for some reason. If you want to try resending it again, the best thing to d would be to delete the current file, open Media Recorder (this will generate a new file) and then wait for the error to occur and then grab the file and resend it.

Hi Liam, Thanks for your help. Have carried out your suggestions and Jaksta Music and Screen recorders are installed and working OK.  The Jaksta Media and Converter apps are still in demo modes and crash when opening.  Any further suggestions would be a great help.

Hi Herbert,

It would be best to start by doing a hard reinstall of the Jaksta apps - uninstall, reboot, reinstall.

There may something broken in the programs startup processes, so a reinstall should reset everything.

If the problem continues, can you please supply as much information about the program and the crash as you can ie. version, any error messages, Mac OS version etc.

All of the Jaksta applications I purchased say they are trial only and crash when opened, why?

Quick update: I have opened Jaksta several times since I installed it and it has never locked up or required me to reinstall it. It seems to be working properly now. Thank you!

So I tried logging in as another user and Jaksta immediately accepted my activation code. But when I switched back to my account, it was showing as unregistered. So I entered my activation code hoping it would now work, but the app still locked up. So I used AppCleaner to remove it and installed the older version you linked. When I entered my activation code in that one, IT WORKED! I then updated Jaksta with the installer that was locking up and it still works. Thank you! I will let you know whether or not I still have the issue of needing to reinstall it whenever I need to use it.

Thanks again,

-Shane

Hi Shane,

Strange. Are you willing to try logging in as a different user and see if you are able to activate it under that user?

If that fails too, are you willing to try a much older version to see if the activation takes?

No worries on the delay. I deleted it, reinstalled it using the package you linked above, and it still locked up when entering my activation code. I used AppCleaner to remove everything for Jaksta and tried again with the same results; it still locks up when entering my code.

Hi Shane,

Sorry for the long delay!

It looks like the Jaksta applications file has been corrupted. Can you drag Jaksta from your Applications folder into the trash and then download and install this version:

Are you able to activate it now?

Note that this won't delete your download list - this is stored elsewhere.

Thanks,

Ben

So I've reformatted my drive and installed El Capitan. I installed Jaksta, try to enter my activation key and doing so locks up the program. When I force quit and restart, Jaksta did not get my code before locking up.

Hi Shane,

Whoops, sorry it looks like it did not go through.

We actually have a newer version that has some changes to certificates, there is an outside chance it might fix it:

Otherwise you could try it again when you upgrade your OS or else let us know if you want a refund (I will make sure it goes through this time!)

Thanks,

Ben

I appreciate it Ben, but you must have refunded someone else's account as nothing has appeared in my Paypal account nor in my bank account. I hope you do find a solution. I plan on upgrading my OS as soon as I can get a couple of projects wrapped up. Hopefully when I do, the problem won't arise again.

Hi Shane,

Just to clarify - we still intend to fix this if we can, but I've given you a refund as you have waited a while now and it's not clear we can fix it very soon as it would appear to be an obscure issue.

Thanks,

Ben
